A heartfelt celebration . . .
One of the first words that come to mind when I think back on Suzanne & Andrew's wedding day is heart. Every detail of their day was straight from the heart, in some way representative or a result of their love for each other, for their family, for their friends, for their beautiful pup Georgia. Andrew's sweet sister let us take over her room as the impromptu bridal suite because the light was so perfect. Suzanne's mother helped her daughter put on her gown and jewelry that has been in their family for generations. Suzanne walked down the aisle with an engraved pin of Andrew's late grandfather on her bouquet. Georgia was honored with her own entrance down the aisle to the song 'Hound Dog' by Elvis Presley. Suzanne and Andrew were married by one of their best friends, Peter, who told the story of how the couple supported him when his grandmother passed. He quoted a handwritten note that Suzanne had given to him: "Did you know that fallen trees and old stumps are kept alive on the forest floor by their friends and family (other trees)?" People are a lot like trees, the note said. Peter used this idea to speak a blessing over their marriage that had the whole wedding (me included) tearing up from both laughter and emotion. The rest of the day followed with a warm celebration, more beautiful speeches of love and support, first dances, amazing food, cake and root beer floats, a full dance floor and, of course, singing our hearts out to 'Pink Pony Club.' Congratulations to Suzanne & Andrew—may your marriage be as beautiful and full of heart as your wedding day. 🤍
